Jon turned around the corner and finally reached Sector 0. A fog of green tint surrounded the colossal tower. "I swear it becomes smaller everytime I look at it." He spotted a group of guards coming from the other side and quickly hid behind a dumpster in the narrow corridor. He couldn't let himself be seen, not when he was this close to his goal.

You could find some strange odd jobs at the Slums. This foreigner said to him in a peculiar accent: "Retrieve at least ten materia orbs from the Shinra Materia Dispenser in the 63rd floor, and we have a deal." Jon was often sought by some eerie people to fulfill highly questionable tasks. His resourcefulness and his knowledge of the Midgar geography made him a valuable asset for the criminal underworld. Perhaps his best feature was that he was ultimately expendable: no one would know who he really is or whom he was working for. Jon never dared to ask questions anyways, fearing the anger of the mob. As long as he was certain a large sum would come out of the task, he would do it. Afterwards, he would spend some of the gil on food that would last him for a month, and the rest of it on alcohol. When he would be near the end of his supply, and when begging wasn't working out, he would seek another task.

As for this job, he thought the materia would probably be smuggled out of Midgar and used in some foreign wars. The stranger only gave him some indications on what exactly to do when at the 63rd floor. This wouldn't be the first time Jon was breaking in the Shinra building. He was already sent there, but it was only to steal some files in the 45th floor. This would be the first time he would actually go beyond the 46th. Beyond that, all floors were heavily guarded. The foreigner warned him about this, but also made sure Jon understood he would be immensily rewarded. He accepted, packed the necessary, grabbed his revolver, said goodbye to the man in the suit and went on his way to Sector 0.

The patrol was now far, giving Jon a chance to get into action. He left his hiding place to bolt to a manhole, lifting it up and descending into the sewers that connected to the train rails.

Alex-"Now that Sephy is something we agree on. Speed is very important, though thankfully with guns in a good few chases the speed of the bullet also related to how powerful it is."

Having now given up on looking through the guns as there weren't many of them Alex was now looking through the mods/add ons for them.

Alex-"From what I saw of you in the training room I think something with high level cutting from would work well for you. Like a katana or something. With the amount of force you managed to put behind the training sword to impale it in the floor was impressive. Put that behind a katana and you cut through things like their butter, plus their some of the quickest and most accurate blades out there. Ah hang on here's something."

He stepped back holding two suppressors designed for high caliber sniper rifles by their appearance.

Alex-"These might work"

He headed over to one of the lockers where he had left his personal weapons.

"Ironic, given the current situation," was all Sephiroth said, pausing at the door.

The inflitration was a success. Past the underground rail passage, Jon was now climbing stairs and crawling through air ducts unseen all the way up to the 47th floor. It was all going smoothly. "This is way too easy", he chuckled. Overlooking possible breaches was the consequence of a powerful company's overconfidence, he said to himself. "Oh we're so big! There's no way no one unwanted could get in!" He kept entertaining himself with such thoughts until he reached floor 49.

Something caught his attention in this particular room: a door, in which was written in big, bold letters: "MATERIA ROOM". The foreigner told him about this. There were rumours of a room where they made top-level materia somewhere around these floors. Thing is, the man was also told that retreiving it would be near to impossible: some form of special forces were based in the 49th, making any attempt at taking the materia perilous. Now, at the time, Jon scrapped the idea of getting those off his head. But now that he was close, it seemed so tempting. And the stranger did offer an even more ridiculous sum for it. That would be enough for him to finally leave Midgar once and for all and live in a proper house.

The floor seemed empty. He only needed to figure out how to reach the room's air vent.

"Ah, what the hell. If anyone catches me, the bugger'll bite a bullet."

And so, instead of going up, he followed the way into the main room and carried through the air ducts of the floor. He turned left, expecting to be now directly above the Materia room; he soon noticed this was not the case, and that he was in what seemed to be the armory. He could hear two men talking to each other. Jon didn't dare to make a move in the air duct, fearing the noise it might make. Though unseen, Jon could not hide the horrible stench that comes from a person that didn't take a bath for months...

Something was off, different. Wrong. It was... it was the smell of the slums. Smog and grime and oil and poor sanitation and unwashed bodies. He had only been there a couple of times - four times, four - but he remembered - you remember exactly, every sound, every sight, every smell, every route you took, every monster you killed...

Sephiroth's head snapped around, scanning the armory for anything different, anything unusual. Why hadn't he noticed it when he came in? The armory was a sealed room, the only airflow would be from when the door opened or...

There the distinct sound of gun being loaded. In One of his hands he held a very heavy duty pistol pistol in each hand. Both were at least 50 cal each with enough stopping power to punch straight through the vents metal and still put a hole the size of a football in someone.

Alex-"See Sephy these are my weapons, powerful enough to punch a hole in any heavy duty armor you could currently find and blow the guy inside to pieces."

Alex walked forward so he was directly under the vent's grill so the source of the smell could see him. He then raised both pistols pointing one at the point where the two ends of the ventilation going through the room left it. So if the person inside there tried to escape either way he could simply shoot both ends and either kill them or make the whole thing fall from the ceiling stopping the escape. The smell was clearly a human. Midgar didn't have much in the way of animal and he very doubted a animal could work it's way into the building. A monster? Unlikely as it would have attacked them by now. No it was human. Though Alex was impressed with his self restraint. The erge to fire was great but he kept in check. Well for now at least till no one else was around to watch.

Alex-"Both these pistols have been modified to hold 16 rounds each. Now if I started firing from both ends of the ventilation shaft in this room at once I could easily put a few bullets per meter. That would be interesting for anything inside there wouldn't it Sephy."

He paused for affect. Alex kept a cool face. This was a very well rehearsed situation for him. As it was in these situations that the other part of Alex like to come out. The proper Alex but he couldn't let him out here. With Sephiroth and all the buildings camera's it would go very bad.

Alex- "Or I could just shoot the whole thing down and we could have fun with whatever is inside. Or even better whoever is in could come down so to save me having to prove to Sephy here that yes a gun can blow a man in two."

Sephiroth just reached up and activated the room's emergency alert signal. Sirens started to blare.

As soon as the deafening sirens started ringing, Jon crawled his way back in the ducts as fast as he could. "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck." He finally reached a resting point between floors where several air vents met. He was sure he wouldn't be found there.

He was still sweating and his heart seemed to almost burst out of his body at each beating. This was all too much stress for a poor, malnourished fellow to endure. He sat down, and started violently shaking. "I should eat." He got an energy bar from his backpack and took a bite.

"...Those fuckin' freaks..." The way that kid was talking so clinically about taking Jon's life filled him with terror. It was almost as if he was enjoying torturing him, and would enjoy even more blowing him apart. All his life in the slums, Jon met quite some horrible men who relished in the suffering of others; yet, these two made him more uneasy than he ever felt before. Something wrong about them... The green glint...
He took another energy bar.

How did they sense him anyways? He couldn't know. However, he now knew that he shouldn't come across anyone in this building ever again. If he ever wanted to go back to Kalm, he should be extra cautious.

He needed to recover some energy first. He took his revolver out, verified the bullets were loaded and closed his eyes, gripping the gun firmly. After a few minutes, he fell asleep.

Alex smirked when he heard the person move in the vents. It was difficult to hear over the alarms but he had heard the faint noise of someone moving as fast as they could. This made Alex happy. Oh how he loved it when they ran.

Alex-"Sephy we better go report to command and inform them of the location of our intruder. We can't leave him be as we have no idea what he has seen. Though they will most likely have the army forces search for him I imagine. If anything him seeing us is bad enough, seeing as we aren't really public yet are we"

As much as wanted to let his true self out for a bit he knew he couldn't here. Even if he hunted the man down and heard the joyous noises of their screams of pain he would still be in the Shinra building. So there would still be people watching him.

"Agreed."

The alarm would have sent a signal to the building's central security room, but obviously no details. Between that and the racket here plenty of people would know something was up. Every single SOLDIER on the floor was probably already headed here...

The sense of danger had passed, leaving Sephiroth feeling a little drained. He was careful not to let it show, mostly out of harshly ingrained habit. But now he was even more uneasy. He would have this incident on his mind as well, trying to slot it into the bigger picture. A simple slums thief wouldn't risk coming so far into the building... would they? There was plenty of things of simple monetary value on the lower floors, even right in the entrance. Shinra liked to make an impression.
