Yeah, Squeenix is dishing out yet another FF spinoff, Dissidia -Final Fantasy-. In my eyes, they're biting off a helluva lot more than they can chew with all these games, but this one sounds kind of intriguing.

Dissidia will be released on PSP, and the genre is listed as "Dramatic Progressive action". It's character designs are from Nomura, and the title "Dissidia" is latin for "To dissagree" but doesn't apear to be an Fabula Nova Crystalis game.

Teaser Trailer on official website: http://www.square-enix.co.jp/dissidia/

The characters in the logo aparently bear a strong resemblance to Princess Sara and Chaos from FFI. More info will be given at the up-coming Square-Enix party.

Rumour has it that this is believed to be an FF crossover game, abit like Ehrgeiz (I believe), or a 3D FFI remake with an in depth plot.

source, this AC.Net thread: http://forums.adventchildren.net/showthread.php?t=84491

They know alot more than I do, so I suggest checking it out if your interested. ;P

Hmm... think this might be that "unannounced FF game" that'll be unveiled at Squeenixparty? The "Fantasy is endless/Fantasy has no limited form" thing had me mentally smirking like whoa.

While we're at it, here's an interesting rumor: FFIV remake being made by the same team who did FFIII DS. Aaaaand, another interesting tidbit about an all-new game (this one not a rumor) courtesy of Joshie.

Oh hell, let's turn this into a Squeenixparty Discussion Thread :P

I'm keeping an open mind on Dissidia right now. It's a seemingly NEW Final Fantasy game, like Tactics. It's not a sequel or a game with a million parts on different consoles, which is very good in my eyes.

And Reeve, Final Fantasy IV remade?

...I could barely play through the emo shit the first time. ;_;

Please, don't make me do it again. I beg you! >.<

Alrighty, SEParty thread it shall become then! :P

I heard a bit about The Last Remnant, I thought it was a rumour? I heard it was another FFVII comp title (The name sounds like it could relate to FFVII, at least).

The FFIV rumour is believable on a count of the FFIII remake, and I'd definitly buy it.

It looks like Squeenix has a shitload to show us at this years party, I can't wait. :P

IIRC, the name itself was no rumor (it was confirmed to be registered), but that is was possibly another Compilation piece was. With the (open-ended) hidden ending of DC taken into account, Squeenix could easily make yet another FFVII sequel :P At any rate, it's interesting that it turned out to be an all-new title after all; the mix of eastern and western character styles sounds intriguing.

And Clidus, no one said you had to replay FFIV-- I sure as hell won't be! (And WB, BTW ^_^)

ETA of Doom: I found this very interesting -

The site also claims to have the first details on Dissidia Final Fantasy, which was announced yesterday. Apparently it'll be the game that celebrates all 20 years of Final Fantasy history, by bringing characters together from every past Final Fantasy game to wage war. The genre is "war action," which brings to mind something like Dynasty Warriors. Battles will take place on a 3D field in real time. --from Game|Life

Tetsuya Nomura really has a lot to do these days, noticed how the character on the left of the Dissidia title has a lot of Yoshitaka Amano's style though. He was his teacher for a while after all but I haven't noticed that style much in his previous work.

It's good that Square Enix seems to do well with their Final Fantasy merchandise, but I find it difficult to keep up with all those remakes on different consoles. Luckily they still make original titles too.

Both of the character drawings are Amano works; most all Final Fantasy games feature his art in the logos.

The main thing that annoys me about all these new Final Fantasy games is that a new FF title used to be an event. Every few years or so, we'd get an all-new Final Fantasy, and it was something huge to look forward to. Now there's several new games coming out-- Crisis Core, the Compilation of FFXIII, and now Dissidia (which, if the Dynasty Warriors-type game rumor is true, sounds kind of awesome... given that Square won't muck it up). Kind of gives the franchise a little less luster.

Maybe that's just me, though *shrug*

Aha, good to know, I didn't do my research properly (have mostly played the games with Nomura's design).

The same thing is happening to the Mario games and to a certain degree the Sonic games, although in those cases it might be worse, since the Final Fantasy games often give us new characters and worlds to enjoy.

There's also that 'Final Fantasy Tactics A2' that might be promising, at least I liked 'Final Fantasy Tactics Advance' fairly much even if the story isn't as impressive as in the games for the stationary consoles.

People, get ready to druel over the first scan of Dissidia.
http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/7600/up188695za7.jpg

Look, at that Nomura'd out Zidane artwork....I'm serious, just look at him, well you should probably look at that Worrior of Light artwork as well, and maybe the in game images of Zidane (looks girly, in game), Kuja, Garland and the WOL(Worrior of Light). God this game looks awsome.

When I hear "War Action", then I look at the battles between Zidane and Kuja, and Garland and the WOL, it looks like the games gonna be good versus evil. I guess people will never know what that ultimate Cloud versus Squall battle would be like(if they're even in the game, that is)....

Nomura... what the hell did you do to Zidane? *cries*

If Ramza, Agrias, and other FFT characters wind up in this, I don't even want to know what Nomura's doing to them ;_;

Other than that, Dissidia looks okay so far... but they should really put this on the PS2 *cough* <_<

I don t find a FF crossover intriguing. Unless it was an RPG with a FF characters meeting each other, its just going to some be kind of fighter with special gameplay, nothing more, and overly butchered characters by Nomura (typical of him in the ps2 era *points KH*).

I m definitely looking forward to FFIV DS remake. I like FFIII DS, Matrix Software did a fabulous work in developing and SE kept the game as it originally was. The screens of FFIV are even better than FFIII graphics and the fact that character design is close to Amano s artwork is a plus for me.

Just popped out of my mind after seeing the pics of Zidane, Kuja, Garland(FFI) and Light warrior that they might connect FFI to FFIX through Garland, which many believe he is the same one in FFIX and FFI.
Maybe the "Fantasy is endless/Fantasy has no limited form" thing, might be more than a crossover, like actual connection of the various FF worlds.

Ah. there s going to be a FFXII: international release in Japan http://www.jeux-france.com/Webmasters/Images/5831520070509_145137_0_big.jpg, including a zodiac job system (I don t know if its going to be like in FFT). Personaly I don t think that there was a need of international FFXII release in Japan as there were no further additions to the NTSC US and PAL version of the game, to my knowledge.

Got this link via the NeoGAF forums: http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/gemaga1985/.

It's basically a blow-by-blow of the pre-party press conference (in Japanese, so you'll have to use Google Language Tools or Babelfish if you don't know the language and want to read the text).

Included here are the first pics of The Last Remnant. Can we say *drool*?! It also looks like the US/Japan simultaneous release for this game is the real deal. Platforms will be PS3 and XBox 360.

There's also several pics of the FFCC for the DS, as well as announcements of a new Chocobo's Dungeon for the Wii and Star Ocean for the PSP.

Star Ocean remakes for psp for me, thank you. FFCC is uninteresting as usual, Chocobo Dungeon although cute leaves me unmoved(I know you like the Chocobo Dungeons Reeve).

The Last Remnant will be on par with Final Fantasy XIII in terms of graphics, project planning, number of crew, etc...(they want to make it their 3rd worldwide franchise. Actually 4th if you count DQ as a "worldwide" seeing that every DQ sells near 4 million copies in Japan). However the battle system turns me off. Controlling a big array of fighters? Morale bars? That doesn t sound positive to me. Sure, I don t know if I m going to like it or not, information on it was just released.

Simultaneous release? Square-Enix? I want to see that. Can t they do that with FFXIII too, please? And also expand it on the rest of their titles? We are tired of waiting.

Sweet, that The Last Remnant illustration looks very neat, a bit anime-like. And the battle screens promise something epic. It really seems like it can be something worth looking forward to, but it isn't related to the Final Fantasy series right? A bit like a fresh breeze from Square Enix maybe.
I guess most of you have also seen these The Last Remnant scans at Game Swank: http://www.gameswank.com/portal/?p=458

I wonder if the big array of fighters is anything like the armies in Suikoden (ancient game, yes I know  )? Though in the pictures it still looks like quite a lot of action.

Anyone else noticed that man in a pirate hat and a mask? He seems to appear on various Final Fantasy scans (Crisis Core among others) and is starting to freak me out! o_O
I hope it's just some magazine joke directed to the readers.

Ouch...I think Zidane looks awsome. I can't wait to see the rest of the characters amped up Nomura-style. If Locke is in this, woah man, is he gonna look sick. Why do people look down on Nomurized, originaly non-Nomura FF characters? I think they're awsome, excluding that feminine KHII Setzer Gabianni. -_- I can understand being attached to the original character designs, but still..Ah well, everybody has their own taste.

As for Dissidia on PS2, that would be cool. think companies put games on the PSP if they think the game would be to short or something on PS2. If that's the case, Dissidia is better off on PSP, but if it isn't, it would probably be much better on PS2, what with the larger amount of buttons on the controller and such...

The last Remnant? Armies? Morale bars? This game screams Dynasty Worriors.

mtZ: Actually, the only Chocobo games I've played have been Chocobo Tales and (briefly) Chocobo Stallion. I very much enjoyed Chocobo Tales, though (and like "light" RPGs in general), and do plan on picking up this new Wii title when it becomes available ^_^

DYH: The pirate hat guy is an icon that regularly appears in Jump magazines; I'm guessing the scans came from Shonen Jump, V-Jump, or another Jump mag.

Tseng: Hey, KHII Setzer was hot. Then again, the original Amano design was effeninate to begin with. Zidane, on the other hand, always had a spunky (and masculine) boyishness about him; he just doesn't do much for me Nomura-ized. Kuja looks fine, though. YMMV, I guess *shrug*

Crisis Core will ship September 13th in Japan. So don't expect it in English till next year folks.

Oh, and Sephiroth is in Dissidia. Not really a supprise but worht mentioning. The bad news though: Dissidia has full voice acting.

If this really is "Final Fantasy All Stars" just how many classic characters can they ruin with welsh acidents?

Something else interesting in that article Clidus linked: there's going to be an FFVII tenth anniversary PSP. I'm guessing it'll be released with Crisis Core, like the FFIII DS Lite was with (of course) FFIII.
